Hereby I want all posters on this board give the sad news of the
departure of this person jan van.
He was found on the sidewalk..with a bag full of bottles of wine.
Police investigating the case said he was coming from the liquor store.
In short..obviously he did'nt make it back home.
May he rest in peace.

One way to know that a story is nearing its end is when the author starts killing off characters.

This underscores the point that the flesh and blood Jan Van is (or was) not the same entity as the message board fictional character by the same name that was understood to represent the flesh and blood version of Jan Van. People often don’t make much of a distinction between the two – which is like considering an email that you’ve written to be part of yourself. It isn't as if this has never happened before. Although the flesh and blood Carlos Castaneda died over ten years ago his character of the same name that was understood to represent him comes to life every time someone reads one of his books. Almost all of the fictional characters that I am familiar with believe that they have free will and that the things around them are real. They come to life in a very realistic virtual reality simulator called the human mind (the same one that creates your own sense of free will and reality). Maybe when one of these characters is also an author he wakes up (and maybe looks at his hands or something) and runs amok in your mind “eating candied apples and doing obscene things to your gray matter” to quote myself. Castaneda did once write that he had found a way to become ‘temporarily immortal’ – maybe that was it. Anyway remember that when you read old posts or books you may be bringing a copy of someone back to life. By the way these characters usually don’t think they were created by an author but rather by a god – who lives in some abstract realm called something like heaven. The ironic thing is that this god (or author) might also be a fictional character created by a higher level god or author.

I think that the "temporariliy immortal" thing applied to compressed time. I have experienced this myself where in a very short span I can compress an unbelieveable amount of action, enough for a few lifetimes it seems. This is followed by long spans of doldrums.

Some would instantly declare "bipolar!". But that's not it. It isn't mania, it's just that a bunch of things start happening all at once and you ride that wave instead of being the initiator. Then you cultivate a romance with the quieter times, the lull inbetween.

Sidarthur sometimes said that people shouldn’t read the Castaneda books but he never said why. Castaneda filled his books with alluring characters like don Juan so that some people read the books over and over. But there was one character that was supposed to represent Carlos who, even though he was the central character of the books was sort of a buffonish clown. Maybe the real Carlos can come back in this character through the minds of the people that read and reread his books and eventually take over. Anyway it’s a good idea for a sort of vampire like novel – I’d probably call it Mr Fum’s Famous Whole.

Neither. Now that I think about it what I really meant was ‘holiness’. No, that isn't right either. I actually meant ‘wholesomeness’. I’m sort of discombobulated because of a dream that I recently woke up from. In the dream I was getting ready to take a bus out of Australia but it was being held up because Jan wouldn’t complete his anger management therapy. This was making the assistant manager in charge of him and the Australian authorities (who were from some branch of the Australian navy (the coast guard, I think (Australia has a lot of coasts (every attempt to measure their length has failed))) lose their tempers. Meanwhile my dad had cleaned out his workshop and found some tiny rolls of film that had been lost all these years (my brother had made them for a high school AV club but I considered them mine because I directed). As I carried them off I accidentally dropped them on the floor which was already dirty with hard candy that was spilled there from a party. I picked them up and put them in a stainless steel bowl that I had but realized that most of them were lost – I just hoped the ones that I did get were the ones I wanted. I was becoming quite anxious about missing the bus especially since it was in a different dream and didn’t exist any more. I also realized that I was barefoot and was wearing my jeans inside out (they were black jeans and this made them look stone-washed but it still wasn’t right because the inseam was darker than the rest). But it wouldn’t matter since the lights would be out on the bus and we would be submerged most of the time anyway (the bus was also a submarine). I saw some plastic jugs that once held milk but now held water and were leaking but that didn’t matter because we weren't taking them. I was still troubled because I suspected that I had forgotten something, which was the theme of that whole series of dreams.

NOTE: All coastlines are fractal and their length varies as the length of the measuring stick used to measure them. The ratio of the coastline length to the measuring stick length is known as the fractal dimension.

Oh I'm SO glad you had that dream ZZZZZ. I was SO worried that since Australia is slowly drifting towards the south pole that you would wait till the south sea froze over and then walk out instead of taking the bus!

After all, ice and bare feet sound VERY dangerous!

NOTE: All dicks are fractal and their length varies as the length of the measuring dick used to measure them. The ratio of the dick length to the measuring dick length is known as the fractal jealously! :a012:

I am currently about halfway through rereading the novel by Herman Melville called Moby Dick – the story of the hunt for the famous sperm whale of that name. That is the meaning of the secret symbolism of that book. It’s actually a homoerotic story (like Billy Budd). It reminds me of something that Lenny Bruce once said “I like the way they punish homosexuals, they put them in jail with a bunch of men”. Put that in your high school reading curriculum and home school it.

Now that I think about it as the measuring stick used to measure the length of a coastline gets shorter the coastline gets longer. So when the numbers representing those two lengths are multiplied together they produce a number called the fractal dimension. In my earlier description that would be the ratio of one length and the reciprocal of the other one. For the mathematical model this would be true over an infinite range of length numbers but in the real world the range extends for only a few orders of magnitude. For example in coastlines, mountain ranges, clouds, tree branching patterns, nervous systems, brains, entrails and so on…
