I recently read an interesting article about blindsight. It occurs when a person goes blind because the part of the brain that causes people to be conscious of what they see (the visual cortex) is damaged or destroyed– the eyes remain perfectly healthy and intact. There is another part of the brain (the superior colliculus) that is the primary visual center for non-mammals such as fish and reptiles. Although it still exists in people, when visual signals go there the person affected is not conscious of them. This is illustrated by a man with this condition who thinks he’s blind being videotaped walking down a hall filled with obstacles. He is able to avoid all of the obstacles as if he sees them. When asked about it afterward he remembered just walking down an empty hall and was not aware of any obstacles. As well as recognizing objects that part of the brain also can interpret expressions on a person’s face and other elements of their ‘body language’ that signify emotion. It seems likely that this system is defective or damaged in autistic people. Intuition is defined as a person being aware of something without ever being conscious of it. I am repelled by the audacity of people that reject as unreal anything they cannot be conscious of as well as people that think that those things are some kind of magic.

Z is a preacher.
Preachers don't listen, ever.
They just talk and talk, and dont care for respons.
But if they do respond to what people respond to whatever they coughed up, they will serve another sermon.
They love mystery, they love to be NOT understood.
It's an ego thing.

Well I guess he has found a home here and so long as he doesn't break the furniture should be welcome.

Quote: The researchers constructed a bacterium's "genetic software" and transplanted it into a host cell.
The resulting microbe then looked and behaved like the species "dictated" by the synthetic DNA. Scientists created 'artificial life'?? Nah, they messed with something living.

Mostly the little hints will mean something just to me, but perhaps the latest one will jog your memory.
Do you recall how I referred to my wife and our long journey together as "my sweet baboo" on a number of occasions?
Crow has "hurt" me at other times by referring to that on other forums.
Check this one out from a few posts back from this very forum!
Cray-Zee Monologue Baboons sometimes throw their excrement at onlookers. Coincidentally that is also the definition of ‘chat’. Ahh – baboons! It reminds me of my sweet baboon and our many adventures together fighting crime and unnecessary chats. ‘Sweet baboon’ was the pet name I had for my animal sidekick.

Thoughts on what people that tinker with genetics might do Maybe something bad, maybe something good or maybe nothing at all. Tinkering is a risky thing and full of unintended consequences. Maybe someone will take a risk that fails and do in humanity. A lot of people think that would be a bad thing – it’s the old existential dilemma; “To be or not to be” and all that. You might think that people being introduced as risk takers are people that put themselves at risk for the benefit of others but actually when a person has a reputation as a risk taker it’s because they put many people besides themselves at risk. To quote myself on social inertia I once wrote, “Can't stop progress, it won't move” – note the wry reference to relativity in that quote (note the rhyming, alliteration and self reference in my addendum to the quote). William Burroughs once wrote about a cowboy finding a couple of arrowheads in a novel he was writing. The cowboy was musing about the status of the arrowheads as artifacts. They once had meaning and function as part of a system of shaft and bow and archer but now they were only pointless, incomplete artifacts. Maybe the human race or even the entire biosphere is an incomplete artifact that will just go on until it wears out or spins out of control. I recently woke up from a dream where I had finally escaped from a house full of malevolent crazy people who didn’t even realize how crazy and malevolent they were. But then I realized that I hadn’t really accomplished much since I was one of them – and no matter where I went or what I did it wouldn’t change that.

A less often use of the word ‘artifact’ is as the side effect of some other operation. For example when an object is illuminated it casts a shadow that has some of the properties in a simplified form of the original object. An ancient Greek philosopher once compared the study of reality to studying shadows on a wall. Maybe this can be looked at in a more literal way than is usually the case. If 3D objects cast a 2D shadow then maybe 4D objects cast 3D shadows. Maybe everything we consider reality is only a shadow of something incomprehensible. Or to put in more mystical terms maybe we’re all shadows of god. When looked at this way it is necessary to give up the idea that existence has any real purpose. After all when you turn on a light it isn't to create your shadow. Or maybe you should treat your shadow with more respect. You may be creating all kinds of personal realities and then ignoring them.

Ah, that one, Road.
But hmmm... I think it's just a very simple play with words, anyone could have done it.
As far as I remember Carlitos Crow, he could be a lot more nastier than that when he was in the 'right' mood...
